Judy Murray’s Miss-Hits Tennis Programme

I am very excited to be able to bring Judy Murray’s ‘Miss-Hits Tennis Programme’ to Moira House. So what is Miss-Hits? It is a 12 week programme, split into two 6-week blocks. It is an indoor activity which means we can use slow-moving, fun, colourful equipment that will not blow away in the wind or get wet. I have a special Miss-Hits equipment pack which includes everything that is needed to deliver 12 weeks of activities. We use play equipment rather than tennis equipment, (balloons, chiffon squares, hit mitts, frisbees and fluff balls and much more), and the programme is specifically targeted at girls aged five to eight years old. The programme focuses on fun, friendship and enjoyment, whilst enabling girls to discover skills they never knew they had.

The Miss-Hits are a tennis playing girl gang, with six animated characters and Billie the Ball Dog. Each character represents a tennis stroke – Faith Forehand, Bella Backhand, Valentina Volley, Sasha Smash, Selena Serve, Alejandra Ace. The girls learn about one character each week. Each character has their own theme tune, warm-up dance, magic symbol, trick, game – and of course, shot. Through the characters, the girls can learn more about tennis by following their adventures on the Miss-Hits website and by playing the Knock-Out Tennis app which teaches them how to compete and keep score.

The Miss-Hits programme will run as follows:

Tuesdays           4.15 pm – 5.15 pm for girls in Years 2 and 3

Thursdays           1.00 pm – 2.00 pm for girls in Reception and Year 1

The cost is £36 per six-week block.

Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, as group sizes are limited to 8 girls. The courses will run after Christmas, and to book a place for your daughter please complete the attached electronic reply slip by Monday 7 December.

The course will be run by Mrs Emma Cherrill who is a qualified PE teacher and LTA Level 3 licenced coach, who has been trained to deliver the ‘Judy Murray Miss Hits’ programme.
